The Science and Technology Forum of the China International Fair for Industry and Technology has focused on standardization for 11 consecutive years. This year, attending experts and industrialists have conducted in-depth discussions on topics related to "green packaging", including standards for packaging materials, transportation, and hazardous substance regulations. Zhao Penggao, Deputy Inspector of the National Development and Reform Commission, introduced that currently, packaging waste in large and medium-sized cities in China accounts for nearly half of the total volume and one-third of the weight of urban solid waste. Promoting green packaging and reducing pollution caused by packaging materials has become a major and urgent issue. The standard content is not entirely reasonable and complete; there is insufficient coordination and lack of systematicity between standards; emphasis is placed on form and poor operability.
Jin Xiangzuo, President of the Asia Packaging Center of the World Packaging Organization, believes that "in order for China to become a true global packaging industry center in the future, promote industrial cluster development and technological progress, it is necessary to enhance China's discourse power and rule making power in the world packaging industry. The seminar conveyed a widely recognized message in the industry that the current standardization level of China's packaging industry is no longer able to meet the actual needs of rapid industry development. To achieve the transformation of packaging from "big" to "strong", it is urgent to improve the standardization level of the entire industry. Jin Xiangzuo revealed that China is planning to build a "World Packaging Industry Center", with key bases including the World Packaging Headquarters, military civilian integration development, scientific and educational research and development, commercial logistics, cultural creativity, packaging equipment, new packaging materials, and agricultural product processing and packaging; Implement 18 key projects, including the Shibao Research Institute, Shibao University, high-end packaging products, advanced packaging equipment, and new packaging materials. Among them, the "World Packaging Industry Center" led by the World Packaging Center Group will jointly invest with private enterprises, foreign enterprises, and state-owned enterprises to attract global merchants, with an expected investment scale of over 120 billion yuan. At present, plastic woven bags and other plastic packaging are still the mainstream products in the packaging industry. How to green the raw materials of plastic packaging is a common research goal for all packaging enterprises.
